On a soggy day the ladies 5’s faced Brom Becks at home on the swimming pool….. sorry I mean sand pitch. With our warm up -involving front crawl and breast stroke- completed we were ready to start, not sure whether it was for water polo or for hockey!

With great pressure from Canterbury and especially Izzy we were able to keep the action mostly in our attacking half.

An amazing tackle 5 minutes into the half from Lou followed by a nimble drive into the d and a lovely first time shot broke the deadlock for 1-0

The play carried on in our favour with GK Julie not having much action. The ball wonderfully played down the pitch by the midfield, ending up at the end of our fabulous captain Sophie’s stick, she saw the goal, just about through the rain, and she tidily put it away making it 2-0 inside the first 15!
With one goal already, Sophie was hungry for more and so just before the whistle blew for half time she took a rebound off of their keeper poking it into the goal, 3-0!

Our halftime talk given by Foxy as the rain was coming down heavier and harder. We made our way back onto the pitch, ready and raring to go.

Brom and Becks managed to break away into the D but the fantastic Julie after a 20 year absence wearing goal keeper kit was a brick wall and nothing got past her, even throwing herself on the floor many times for a quick swim to ensure they didn’t score!

Then Lou made another fantastic tackle and linked up nicely with Kate 1-2s all the way down the pitch and another rocket was scored by Lou, 4-0!

The dynamic duo of Kate and Lou was beautiful and resulted in Kate scoring a half volley back of the net just minutes after Lou, absolutely stunning!

The end score was 5-0, a well deserved victory for an incredible team performance, well played everyone!
