The ladies 4s set off today on an unusually sunny October day, for an away match in Sevenoaks. With only one sub we knew it was going to be tough, but we stayed determined and strong. Canterbury had the push-back and we positively started and advanced with the attack. However, a lot of back and forth up the pitch showed us that we were very evenly matched. Sevenoaks advanced with some strong strikes but could not get the ball past our robust defence and even stronger goalkeeper (Trudy). We ended the first half being 0-0,
The second half was very similar to the first, with end to end attacks from both teams. Canterbury unfortunately, had a number of opportunities but still struggled to get a goal, including half a dozen short corners. Then up the other end with an unlucky short corner, Sevenoaks had the advantage and managed to successfully put away a goal. Canterbury continued to push hard in the warm weather, but with legs running out of steam found it difficult to get one back. The final whistle was blown leaving Canterbury with a 1-0 loss.
Some great hockey was played and the young team are really starting to gel together. On wards and upwards for next week.
