It was Canterbury 3’s v Canterbury 2’s league match at Polo farm- the sun was shining both teams sporting the new Y1 kit (2’s debuting the red kit as the away team) with all to play for.
The match started strongly with both teams having attacking opportunities. We pushed hard from the out set and had some good leads towards the goal. We held our own throughout the first half and had some good opportunities after some lovely play between defence and midfield. The team had more structure and confidence built upon from last week. The first half ended 0-0.
Into the 2nd we were under pressure and conceded several short corners within the first few minutes. Unfortunately the 2’s converted one put us 1-0 down. This didn’t damped our spirits and we pressed on to win a short corner. Pippa stepped up to push out and Lizzie smacked it towards the bottom left corner which deflected off the defender into the goal!! Back to a draw and the 2s were rattled. They couldn’t get another goal in open play and resorted to another short corner goal with 6 minutes to go. We battled right to the final whistle but couldn’t get another one ending the game 1-2 to the 2s. A very proud captain of the team as we played really well.
