The ladies 3s went up against a tough opposition this week facing Blackheath and Elthamians 1s. The opposition were quick to press us as soon as the first whistle blew. But, we kept composure and moved the ball smartly so Blackheath were left to do a lot of defending in the first 15 minutes. This didn’t stop them from fighting for the ball, though, as they were able to break through quickly at times posing problems for Canterbury’s defence. Although we were able to stop a lot of their attempts, Blackheath managed to win a handful of short corners where they were able to convert two of them into goals. The disappointment of conceding didn’t dent the determination of the Canterbury side. We continued to move the ball well in the midfield and managed to get a short corner. Unfortunately, though, we were unable to convert it due to the strong Blackheath defence.
The match ended with a well fought 2-0 victory for Blackheath and Elthamians 1s and an outstanding performance from the Canterbury 3s.
