Men’s Millers vs BBHC 2XI (Home) | 14 Jan 23

Won 3-0

Scorers: Goodwin (2), Cholerton

MoM: Henry Goodwin

The Millers season continues to resemble the erratic lines recorded on a seismograph: last week being a metaphorical trough but (fortunately) springing back to a peak this weekend.

Playing cohesive, probing hockey the home side had the majority of the possession and pressure early on. However, it was a marauding run out of defence and a well-timed pass, from George Holdstock, that set Henry Goodwin up to take on, and beat, the last two defenders and round the keeper for the opening goal.

Minutes later, Chris Goulden played an incisive ball into Craig Cholerton who deflected into the opposition net, on his reverse, for 2-0. A clean sheet and a half-time lead to preserve: a rare scenario this season.

A second goal for Goodwin, early in the 2nd, put the game out of reach and Ollie Neal was unlucky to be denied by the post late on.

A really good team performance overall with stand out contributions from Chris Goulden, Ollie Boswell and Henry Goodwin to provide a comfortable result for the Millers.

Squad: Spencer-Tanner (GK), Barnes, Goulden, Ratcliff, Holdstock, Phillips, McHale, Boswell, Neal, Navarro-Pollet, Goodwin, Cholerton, Coombs
