A bad day at the office for the Millers who were playing a well-drilled, promotion-chasing Marden team this week. Nevertheless, the first half was hard fought and the Millers should have gone in only 2-0 down at half-time. However, it transpired that the match was playing to ‘Weald rules’ hockey (where use of the back stick is permissable) thus it was 3-0 at the break.
Pride was still salvageable at this point but, regretabbly, proved to be unattainable as the game progressed and the Marden goals kept flowing. Next week sees the Millers in an epic foot of the table clash which they hope will give them three actual points in a metaphorical ‘six pointer’.
