Knowing that it was going to be a tough game with Old G’s not having dropped a single point this half the season, we came up with a very tactical plan that quite simply was to ruin their day.
We started off really solid with the new addition (or return) of Abbie Bean in the midfield and the incredible Chirpy putting in a solid performance (minus the ariels) at centre back the plan was going perfectly.
We held them to 0-0 at half time and with a few minor corrections to our performance we were ready to take it to them and win the game.
Old G’s were rattled because their plan wasn’t working out and we added to their misery when Tilly C-C put a drag flick on target from a corner that was then slotted home by Ellie to put us 1-0 up.
Old G’s were mad and were clearly out for the win and we had to become a lot more defensive. An incredible performance from the back line and MOM Becs in goal we managed to hold them out. That was until 1 well worked penalty corner routine broke the wall and we found ourselves at 1-1.
As the final whistle blew that’s how it stood. We were the first team to make them drop points and added an extra one to our points total as we get closer to the Christmas break.
