Round 2 of the Over 45s Championships , suitable fuelled from a quick pit stop at a local coffee shop we were ready to take on Epsom Ladies.
This was a MUST GAME WIN Sibs reminded us. We have not travelled all this way to come second!
The first half was a bit nervy and tight with strong play from both sides. Epsom however took the lead from a short corner. Canterbury had a few chances also from corners but unfortunately didn’t change the score line.
Play continued with strong attacking play from midfield, Nikki who likes to score in every game levelled the score line with a cracking top of the D strike.
With wise words from Eirian at half time and some refreshing oranges, the game was ours to win. This half seemed a bit easier, probably our fitness and “youthfulness” was shining through! Although Epsom had their chances keeping Trudy and the defence on their toes.
Our reward came from Suzie receiving the ball on the p spot to fire home. So shocked she felt she needed a little sit down to recover!
Working well as a team our final goal came from a well worked corner from Wendy to Mel and then Nikki who secured our 3-1 win.
3rd round it seems is another away trip to Woking just before the Christmas break.
