Drew 3-3
Scorers: Ellie Johnson Tilly Corteen-Coleman Lottie McDonell
Canterbury with an average age of only 21 years played Maidstone on Saturday. It was such a miserable and cold hands sort of day!
.
Following a short warm up we started strongly with Ellie scoring an open play goal after only 2 minutes. Maidstone put us under pressure and scored on a short corner rebound to make it 1-1, then there was a chance for Canterbury which was unluckily missed.
Later a short corner was awarded to Canterbury where we played around the runners with Tilly hitting the backboard. Now 2-1. Still attacking strong, Canterbury made a good run down the left with a cross ball to Lottie who smacked it bottom left of the goal to make the score 3-1.
After a questionable decision Maidstone came through on a 1 on 1 and managed to convert just as the half time whistle blew.
After an inspiring half time team talk to keep playing as we were, we went into the second half with the want to put the game to bed.
Following a number of attacking short corners ( which none were converted) Maidstone gained a short corner, Becs was there to save the goal with her pads, but frustratingly they scored from the rebound. End of match was 3-3 with Sofia playing a blinder and getting MOM. See you next week…….Keep fit Ladies!
