Canterbury 4s won against Marden 2s in perfect conditions for hockey. Canterbury played their second league game of the season combining a mix of experience and youth to prevail.
After a shaky start Canterbury found themselves 1-0 down after 40 seconds!
As they weren’t happy with that at all, they decided it was best they start to play!
It didn’t take long for Canterbury to dominate possession and strived to get one back, as Nikki managed to wallop one into the back of the net.
The game continued with end to end play with the first half score of 2-2 after a second goal from Nikki.
However Canterbury came out second half hungry for more and didn’t disappoint. Captain Vicki lead the motivation and enthusiasm from the side, and the youth of the team kept the pace up as the ” Grannys” were faltering.
Entertaining Ellie scored 9.4 for her graceful swallow dive from 8 foot up… thud! After composing themselves again from fits of laughter (sorry Ellie, it was funny), the third goal came from a reverse, one handed diving shot from Moira… so elegantly styled out too! A great contender for MOM award. 3-2 up.
And still the youngsters just kept running! Then came the 4th goal… another stunner from Moi with a reverse stick deflection into the top corner of the goal. Sealed it, MOM award surely? The game ended 4-2 up
So with Olympic gold medalist Mo Farrah sponsoring this weeks MOM, there was one worthy winner…. Congratulations go to Anna “Gump” for running her socks off. Commiserations Moira, moi, moy… another time perhaps!
DoD the day – Ellie… harsh but fair!
Looking forward to next week away against Ashford, playing in skins… thanks to Milney! (You had one job!)
