MoM: Archie Brealy
DoD: The 4s Ben Lawford for not wearing shin pads
A 9 goal thriller awaited the most important derby of the club’s league calendar. Although a hesitant start by the 5s saw a couple of excellent early goals conceded meant that we were 2 nil down inside 10 minutes, however; it was clear from the average age of the 5s that experience was not going to be an issue but getting ‘out run’ by a younger 4s might.
No need to panic as a cheeky finish by the superb debutant Archie Brealy and a well slotted penalty corner by Glenn Prebble drew the teams level after 20 minutes.
The stalemate didn’t last for too long as the now dominant 5s scoredd another goal through Tom Hill, showing that a great burst of speed through the middle. Half time and a much improved 2nd quarter performance saw us in with a lead
A captain’s performance from Simon Downes was capped by a blinding bottom corner finish to extend the lead, 4-2, a comfortablemargin with 15 minutes to go, we were managing the game well but we needed to keep the capacity crowd entertained and we gave the 4s a flavour of victory we let them have another goal. 4-3. Another Prebble goal extended the lead to 5-3 but it was written in the stars that it was to end as the numbers had started. A late goal from the 4s ended the game at 5 for the 5s. 4 for the 4s.
