Ladies 3rd XI vs Bexleyheath & Belvedere 1’s (Away) | 24 Sep 22

Won 2-1

Scorers: Lizzie Forsyth and Natalie Goldring

MoM: Alex Hooker

On a surprisingly sunny and warm day Canterbury 3s took on Bexleyheath and Belvedere 1s for the first league match of the season with 3 players making their debut (Georgia, Martha and Sophie).
Canterbury started strong keeping possession well and were rewarded with several attacking opportunities. We took advantage of a short corner which was executed well by Sophie and Rachel, to be slotted into the goal by Lizzie’s straight strike.
Bexleyheath and Belvedere stepped up their game and found themselves with several attacking opportunities particularly on the break. However, this gave Canterbury the opportunity to break back ourselves. A nice team attack that started with Martha within our 25, and worked through to Eleni and Sophie, was rewarded with a goal by Nat who put in max effort for a diving finish!
Throughout the match the game was end to end testing the fitness of us all. Everyone fought hard and Bexleyheath and Belvedere managed to score a goal in the second half from a seemingly impossible angle.
The Canterbury defence held firm through to the end as the counter attacks kept coming, with composed play and tough tackles from mom Alex easing the pressure time and time again. Final score 2-1 Canterbury.
