Ladies 1st XI vs Cambridge City (Home) | 24 Sep 22

Won 4-1

We had our first game of the season at Polo Farm against Cambridge and it was lovely to welcome back some familiar faces- Aurora, Sioned Susannah and Hannah.

We were keen to start the season well and got off to a solid start. We had a great passage of play, with Sarah K putting the ball through toLizzie who beat the keeper but then a Cambridge player stopped it with their body.
We were awarded a p flick.Lucy (indoor top goal scorer) stepped up and finished the penalty to make it 1-0! Off to a flying start.
We kept attacking well and kept Cambridge at bay. Before half time, Captain Mary valiantly took the first green card of the game and later was awarded DOD.

The second half got underway and Towner shimmied away from the 3 players marking her, nicked the ball off Cambridge and played it through to Lily who slotted it away nicely!

2-0 Canterbury.

We played some more nice hockey, pinging the ball about and causing trouble. On one of our many attacks, Chloe got the ball in the D and smashed the 3rd goal in!

3-0 Canterbury.
Cambridge managed to break away very quickly after the restart and scored to make it 3-1.
We kept pressing and playing good hockey, transferring the ball around the back. Hannah wanted to let us all know she was back from the US and fired in the 4th goal!

We won 4-1 and everyone had fun!
