Men’s 2s were left with much to ponder following a bruising 5 nil defeat away at Folkestone. The newish look side had begun the season well, with 3 wins from 3 and went into this top or the table clash with every reason to be optimistic of a victory.
Folkestone are a well drilled hard working side, with a fondness for an ariel ball. In the first half chc managed this well and counter attacked effectively, culminating in Sam WY hitting the post mid way through the first half. There was a few half chances shared between both side but the game was quite even. Unfortunately Folkestone broke the deadlock not long before half time and then scored again shortly after. So at half time men’s 2s went in a rather bewildered 2 goals down.
Second half was when the problems started. With the low autumnal sun in our eyes, the high Ariel balls were causing real problems and Folkestone were able to get in behind CHC and get crosses in along the baseline which their forwards gobbled up. CHC still created a few good chances and won some penalty corners but Folkestone were far more clinical and at full time the score was perhaps a little flattering 5-0 to the home side.
