Massive performance showing Pilgrims metal against old rivals and securing the first win of many.
Pregame omens were good with the sun shining, toss won and Coombsy turning up on time.
Canterbury got out the blocks early with Archie Barnes sprinting past their defence before they had even realised he’d set off after which he found Oliver Coope who sent it home.
Holcombe equalised early in the second half building pressure which was highlighted by Hursty and Craney’s NFL style screams and fist pumps for every decision that went their way. For the last 20 mins pure grit from all Pilgrims resulted in them winning almost all 50/50s and not giving Holcombe a sniff at the W. This Strength and determination to secure the ball was perfectly summed up by a MOM performance by Rory Butcher.
Hursty one bang finished a great team goal to take the lead. Not long after Oliver Coope made it three with a deflection he claims wasn’t a back stick, luckily the umpire agreed and that was that.
Special mentions:
Big thanks to the millers audience for providing great energy and support for the second half.
Apologies to the Holcombe player who got his ankles snapped by a turn from a fat centre back.
A lot of growing up needed by Tom Laslett after he managed to influence the team to vote the DOD on the state of his lucky boxers.
