Mens 2XI v Cliftonville 1 Match report- Saturday 26th September
Saturday started brilliantly, with only around half the team having arrived in time for Lummers team talk…. The warm up ensued, and soon enough pushback arrived. We started well, and won a corner after a class baseline run from Morgan, which Tyler then put away from a left slip move. The game then slowed down and despite having lots of chances to score, including a few PCs, (I swear the goal had shrunk) the first half finished with us having a disappointing 1-0 lead.
The second half started poorly, with Cliftonville tying the game up after an unfortunate a slap found the tiniest gap, and all was level. Tyler soon put us back in front to grab his second goal. But our lead once again didn’t last too long, and Cliftonville tied the game up again with the assist being quite literally a volley reminiscent of a young Wayne Rooney, causing some toys to be thrown out the pram… We then stayed level for a while until a corner slipped back to the injector led to Tyler being gifted with a P flick which he slotted home to complete his hat-trick.
A quick counter attack then led to Bucks grabbing our 4th of the game and sealing the 3 points for the boys. A standout performance from Henry creating multiple opportunities led to a deserved MoM, and a green card coupled with some interesting flicking, caused myself to assume DoD, despite Tyler voting for himself.
Overall, a slightly frustrating game, but there was also plenty of great play within it,but we got the job done, onwards to next Saturday!
