In front of a lively crowd adorned in pink and blue, Canterbury needed a big 3 points to move them up the table.
The first quarter was a cagey affair with chances at both ends, but none of them resulted in a goal. Canterbury warmed into the game and went into quarter time 0-0.
With a few changes from the coach, Canterbury were back at it, but Spencer had the run of the play and were pressing Canterbury high. Some great saves from Aurora, then a mis-trap at the back led to a Spencer player stepping into the circle and slotting the ball in the bottom right.
Canterbury did not let this setback get to us and finished the half with some periods of nice play but they were unable to get any short corners or an equaliser.
After half-time, knowing that Canterbury tend to start slowly, we did some team sprints to get the blood pumping. This seemed to do the trick as we started with some good attacks. A few minutes in a great run from Kerler down the left-hand side with a cracking backhand shot flew into the roof of the net with the goalkeeper barely moving. 1-1 and all to play for.
There were more periods of possession ebbing and flowing with a few green cards for both teams. A lovely pass from Jules to Kerler, again down the left side, lead into the circle with a cracking shot which Dom touched past the goal keeper to make it 2-1 Canterbury going into the final quarter.
The final quarter again had good periods of play from both teams with possession changing hands frequently. Spencer had a few short corners with Aurora and the defensive team dealing with these calmly.
Just before the final whistle Spencer were awarded another short corner saved by Aurora and a missed clearance led to a re-award. Again, Spencer were unable to capitalise on this chance and the final whistle blew with Canterbury taking all 3 points.
Canterbury are now in 7th position in the table playing Wimbledon at home 2pm next Saturday and looking to get another 3 points.
