After a week of….” Is it on…. is it off…..” worthy of the weather app having an identity crisis the away game finally got the nod in dry but bitterly cold conditions.
Gloves were a on, the smiles were wide as we welcomed the first game of 2026 plus a couple of new faces in Mariama and Rose. No pressure girls!
It was a good natured match with both sides showing great spirit and some tidy hockey.
Unfortunatly we went to the half time break 1-0 down after a very well taken goal from the oppo that left GK Ava with no chance. Quite rude of them we thought!
Following a dynamic inspiring half time team talk (details classified) what ever was said certainly worked as we came away from the break a totally different side.
Shots were flying in from everywhere from all angles with rebounds , we were keeping their defence very very busy.
Eventually Poppy did what Poppy does best and popped in a very deserved equaliser with some very happy team mates.
The match ended on a draw but based on our second half performance we certainly deserved the win .
A cracking team effort great vibes and lots to build on.
Player of the match was Mariama for her constant performance and decisive attacks down the right flank , and Rose deserves a mention for confidently stepping into the centre back role.
