Playing at home for the first time for a month on Pitch 1 should have played a bit to our advantage and so it did for the first half when against a strong Old Willies team they were held to parity.
Trigger as ever was on great form & with Big Alex Ricketts back the ball was rocket propelled by him into the OWs half, though sometimes with faulty GPS, for the forwards to latch onto. One chance should have been taken in a melee of forwards but their keeper held out. Youngsters Will Pattinson & Angus Solley once again gave us the legs & skills and on debut Greg Lound injected some pace into the Friars midfield.

The second half saw the Friars having to retrench into defensive mode and the barrage of short corners from the opposition signalled a breakthrough despite some excellent Trigger saves & defensive work from Barton, Blackburn & Harris. Dr Miles by his admission wasn’t quite in the zone and needs more time in The Friars! He was helped by Guy Dowling (yes Guy, not Phil!). There was a tackle resulting in a greenie for Greg Lound. John Boy Aikin nearly scored one of his trademark aerial goals but missed & so it was 2 goals late in the second half that saw Friars go down to their first defeat for over a month.

Not much else to write about except and this is by request from our lovely Kitchen ladies (who wished it to be known) the Scribbler upset a certain kitchen lady for adding to his chip portion by an extra solitary chip. He was accused of being a thief whilst he felt he was being Oliver Twist in claiming what was his due. You have been warned – do not try to nick a chip as you will get whacked like a fly with great accuracy & not a little pain! But the chips are good!

Thanks to Kevin & Adam for umpiring.

PS: John Boy reminded Your Scribbler that he had omitted his own green card last week for a “professional foul” as he himself described it which was a little case of obstruction – not difficult. However this needs to be placed on public record!
