Ladies 4’s vs Holcombe 3’s
The day started off with the 4’s cheering on our 3’s to keep their spirits high in their battle. A random lady came and joined us in our team talk, but clearly she liked it as she piped up from the corner and said she will use the inspirational words in her own team talk next week- perhaps Sibs will sue her for copyright!
Unsure if Holcs had sent in a spy, we got to work with magic Maddie leading our warmup making us run countless laps around the mini pitch, we were determined to make this game count!
We started off strong and on the attack testing their familiar face in goal, but were unlucky not to score. On the counter Holcs managed to win a short corner, which was unluckily deflected in past Julie’s head. We put that behind us and carried on as strong as ever with Umaiza driving down the line and putting some amazing crosses into the D, using her super speed to beat the defence!!! Our wonder sub Holly came on and instantly got the ball and made some fantastic drives around their players, diving on the floor similar to bambi on ice showing her true commitment! Half time 0-1
We really stepped up in the second half, with most of the possession in our attacking end! With Eva doing some nice link ups with her older sister Heidi hi up the pitch, the ball was getting into the D and the opportunities were coming. Down the other end now with a 16, clearly Lieutenant Munnsey thought she was still out on exercise as she shot a ball straight into Chloe’s butt!
After laughing it off we all got straight back in with many many short corners and threatening drives in our attacking half, and we were just unlucky not to put the ball away! Let’s hope for next week our shooting and spelling has improved!
Well played to the younger players who stepped fabulously up in the game! Shout out for Julie on the other end of the age spectrum for playing 2 games in a row without even having time for a wee in between! Bring on next week… the social as well as the game of course! MOM: Umaiza, on her first ladies game as well!!!
