Dear Diary,
It was soooooo rainy today and we had the early game! The vibes in the changing room were immaculate and despite not having coach Nathan on the side (big shout out to stand in coach Ziggy) we had a good team talk and warm up.
The first half got underway and Canterbury were clearly in control and had the majority of the possession. The high press and incredible skill from the team led to us securing multiple penalty corners. The first goal came from a perfectly practised German that was slotted away by Rachel. Not 10 minutes later, a back stick by the goalkeeper gave us a penalty stroke that was expertly put away by Chirpy to make the score 2-0 at half time.
With a team talk that included the word consistency more times than I can count (my bad) we went into the second half with the mentality to put the game to bed.
It didn’t go quite to plan so I’ll give you the short version. Things didn’t go to plan, we lost some control and they scored two short corners.
The final score was 2-2 with joint MOM to Alice Steel and Jaime Cooper for some incredibly solid performances at the back.
DOD went to our captain Becs who forgot that checking bar duties was part of her responsibilities!
Xoxo
