The grims continued their merry way into the season with a trip to the murk of Medway, against somewhat of a bogey side in recent years. Going with 12, missing several players, the opportunity of a debut was handed to George Coombes in the back line.

The boys started well, linking up nicely without necessarily breaking through – though as the first half went on, Burnt Ash provided riposte, growing into the game and making use of a short corner routine to go in 1-0 up at half time.

Following a chat, the gameplan to get the hockey nice and simple again proved fruitful, with some pressure resulting in a Hursty converted P flick. The boys continued to grow into the game, with another goal for Hursty, one for Bucks and one for Ethan throughout the middle phase of the half. Although there were a few ‘unique’ green cards – handed out to Charlie, Downsey and Coach Jack/Bucks – Stewie provided the goods near the end with our first short of the game, and although Burnt Ash grabbed a consolation on the final whistle, the boys broke their Burnt Ash duck!
