Won 2-0
Scorers: Charlie Gotke, Tony JOnes
MoM: Charlie Gotke
DoD: Pete Bowell – must learn to concentrate on just his game
Last friendly before the league starts and both teams started off brightly. K Sports had a youthful team with three experienced heads who defended well but their youngsters did not quite finish off up front but soon will do!
The Friars settled well and after 20 minutes Pete Bowell, having an effective game (which could be even more with some self-discipline!) injected at a short corner for young Charlie Gotke on the second rebound to drive the ball home to give the Friars a cushion against a team who they always find competitive. Mike Barton and Dono (as ever) in goal marshalled the defence well
Into the second half and K Sports came back hard with their youngsters in particular gaining in confidence and making Dono in goal earn his match fee !
However in a break out John Aikin took a shot at goal which was going wide or so he said and skipper Jonesy managed to neatly deflect into the net to give Friars the win.
Many thanks for Phil Sandy for travelling to Aylesford to umpire and then dashing over to Sittingbourne to umpire 4s v Gore Court Photo shows Pete Bowell competing for the ball (he won it!)
